Hardy Zone 6 Daylilies

The tricky mountain climate can bring frost and snow up until the middle of May. My daylilies are field grown in zone 6 with no mulch. Over the years my program has become mostly dormant and has evolved to become midlate to late bloomers. I don't use artificial aids to breed or multiply them. I plant my seeds directly in the ground and let mother nature take over. I believe it is better to do things the natural way.......

That's me...

This Colocasia Gigantea was a baby in a four inch pot in the spring. This picture was taken early in the season.
By the time frost arrived, it reached well over 7 feet tall with 5 foot wide leaves.

More than just daylilies...

I collect all kinds of plants - cannas, elephant ears, sun coleus, daffodils, peonies, dahlias, bearded and Japanese iris, ornamental grasses and hardy hibiscus. I especially like plants with variegated foliage.

Peak Bloom - 4th of July

For those folks who would like to visit... Please do!
As we all know, there is nothing like seeing the daylilies in person!
Peak bloom in the mountains of Western North Carolina is always the 4th of July.
