The Trail of Tears of the Cherokees took place over the winter months of 1838 through 1839. An estimated 16,000 Cherokees were forced at gunpoint to remove themselves and their families from their homes, farms and communities. After being held in federal stockades until deep winter, they were subsequently herded on overland and water routes that moved through territories that represent the present-day states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas. More than four thousand Cherokees died along the various routes from the harsh conditions of the crossing. The Cherokee were given the nickname of the 'WEEPING NATION' from the tears they shed for the loved ones lost.

Plum with darker eyezone above yellow to green throat. White darts run out onto the petals and sepals from the throat
The entire bloom is diamond dusted - which the photo doesn't capture.
The pollen parent is a seedling that goes many generations back to TRAHLYTA.
By the way, it is pronounced TRAH - LEE - TAH. Many people pronounce it different ways, but I contacted the oldest member of my family, Mayfree Tensong, to reaffirm the true Cherokee pronunciation.
TRAHLYTA'S SONG has five-way branching with 32 buds and fertile both ways.

Dusty rose with a bluish eyezone above a yellow to green throat.
The blooms sometimes cascade, but often they are spatulate and roll up quite a bit.
Four-way branching with 35 buds and fertile both ways.
Named after my friend's (Nancy Womack) granddaughter.
Different and pretty!

A veined, rose-plum with dark plum chevron, multi-patterned eye above white to lime throat.
Darker veins run down into the throat and white darts extend out from the throat onto the petals and sepals.
The patterned eye has been very consistent for me.
Five to six-way branching with 40+ buds. Fertile both ways and makes lots of pods!
Sibling to ONE STRANGE COOKIE.
